WACCSICHI. is an ancient steam herbs bath used by various indigenous cultures in Peru, Cusco and other parts of South America since pre-Inca times. The WACCSICHI is a generally a small circular construction, made of wood covered with blankets woven by the local women with Inca designs that shows different moments in their history, which symbolically represents the womb of Mother Earth. It is used to perform ceremonies of purification, intoxication and renewal, and the experience usually ends with a thank you to Pachamama, Mother Earth with the sacred coca leaf.

“Exploration of Medicinal Plants in the Sacred Valley and WACCSICHI Experience” begins in our family farm that is located in the district of Chinchero over the sacred valley of Incas just 45 minutes away from Cusco city. Our experience lasts only half a day, approximately 4 to 6 hours, and can take place in the morning as well as in the afternoon. This itinerary provides a unique combination of botanical exploration, connection with nature and an authentic WACCSICHI wellness experience in the stunning setting of the Sacred Valley. Immerse yourself in the magic and traditions of the ancient Incas!
- To begin your local expert guide will give introduction to the use of waccsichi in the time of the Incas. and then a guided walk along scenic trails over the Sacred Valley of the Incas for around 2.5 hours. Stopping at strategic points to learn about Inca medicinal plants whit Detailed explanations about the medicinal and cultural use.
- After the hike over the sacred valley of Incas where we will see the amazing views of valley and the mountain range of Vilcanota, Vilcabamba and the Machuqolqa Inca site. We come back to the place designated for the WACCSICHI experience.
- Once we are in the place designated for this unique experience we will spend around 1.5 hours in the waccsichi (a small circular construction, made of wood covered with blankets woven by the local women) The process begins with heating stones in an outside fire. These hot stones are taken inside the waccsichi, where herbs and water are poured over the hot stones to produce steam. The participants, who are seated in a circle, experience the heat and humidity and the aromatic fragrance of the medicinal herbs.
